![]() Personal drama: In general, readers and players of all eras have had a soft spot for villains with Freudian excuses, good people trapped in difficult situations, and personal sacrifices. A bond line or a Valentine scene don't seem to be as convincing for the masses as ship tease in a story chapter or an event. Story hierarchy: While vagueness or having to read between lies have never stopped enthusiastic shippers, it's easier to ship a character when their interest in the protagonist is explicitly shown in the game. At the end of the day, popular FGO ships tend to involve popular FGO characters. Also, it's preferable if the characters or their romanceable versions are unique to FGO, although it's not mandatory (case in point, Melt from CCC). Attractive design and lines are a must-have, but it really, really helps if they're a major character in a story chapter or an event. ![]() Personally, I think it's a combination of factors:Ĭharacter visibility: Before any considerations about romance, the character needs to be relevant to FGO.
